The Shared Web
You will notice that several areas of our website integrate 3rd party technologies like the Flickr image gallery, del.icio.us bookmarks and Cafepress ecommerce. This is all part of a new class of websites called web 2.0, essentially advancing the web from people learning things to people doing things. Social networking websites like MySpace and Digg are changing the way we think of websites. Thanks to the maturity of the Internet, it is no long necessary to "reinvent the wheel". We now partner with the best and leverage each others strengths. Like the ability to read our website in Spanish or French.

What the Numbers Are Saying
Usage of the Internet and its associated technologies grew 208.7% in 2006. There are 1,114,274,426 people online. That is only 16.9% of the world population. Asia continues to lead with 398,709,065 people, equivalent to 35.8% of the world total. In North America 69.7% of the population is connected or 233,188,086 people.

Ecommerce Spending
A new report shows that consumers spent $11.7 billion in 2006, which is an increase of 24% over last year. The figures suggest the Internet is becoming more than a shopping tool, users go online to research products and shop early.

Online Advertising
Total US online advertising expenditure for 2006 increased 4.1% to $149.6 billion compared to the same time period last year. Throughout 2006, the online advertising market has experienced steady, healthy growth with increases in all three quarters with no reason to expect a change. It continues to be the fastest growing media for advertising.

Broadband Usage
About 195 million broadband lines connected homes and businesses to the Internet, up from 23.5 million at the end of June 2003, according to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's semi-annual report.

Coming to an iPhone near you!
Apple computer has always been at the forefront of design and technology but certainly no product has had as great an impact as the iPod. With the exception of the original Mac that ushered in a desktop publishing revolution, the iPod has crossed boundaries and spread the word that Apple knows music. Now with the release of the iPhone, Apple is poised to do something it has never been able to, become mainstream. What some are now calling a 'halo effect' is seeing iPod owners who own and use PC's are now purchasing Macintosh computers. Look up Scherr Technology on your new iPhone in June!

The iPod Accessory Guide
Merge television's full motion video with the interactivity and immersiveness of the Internet. Present testimonials of customers extolling your virtues in their own words! Build site retention with video FAQ's.

The industry that has been spawned by this single product has generated billions and spawned many accessories.
Companies like Griffin Technology, Bose, Belkin, Bang & Olufsen, now offer complimentary products to the iPod.

Now the iPod is challenging how we view all portable technology and leading the charge toward 'cyborg consumerism,' in which technology is married to the body and we plug into a vast 'hybrid entertainment matrix.' says Markus Giesler, a professor at York University in Toronto.

A clear example of this is the plethora of iPod ready vehicles now being released on the market. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo currently offer full integration with their new models with Volvo, Nissan, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari following suit this year. So grab your iPod, your favorite music and go! Thank you Apple.
